In 2017, Mountain Creek State High School is continuing to offer the ‘Young Scholars Program’ for students in years 5 and 6 from our local feeder schools. The program is designed to provide enrichment opportunities for bright and motivated students. ‘Young Scholars’ will participate in a number of challenging activities throughout 2017, along with other like-minded students during their final 2 years of Primary school.
For the Young Scholars program in 2017 we will have a year 5 and year 6 cohort - hence we will accept applications from year 4 and year 5 students (this year).
Activities will cover a range of subject areas including Science, Maths, English, Study of Society and the Environment (SOSE), Information Technology, Creative Industries (music, art, dance, drama), Business, Home Economics, Japanese and Spanish. As such, Young Scholars will have access to state of the art facilities not normally available in Primary schools.
The Young Scholars Program is to reward outstanding young students who have succeeded academically, are good role models to their peers, and also are strong in one or more areas of sport, art, dance, drama, music, public speaking, debating and information technology. Such ‘all-roundedness’ in students will provide them with an education for life in the 21st century. The staff and students at MSCHS are very excited about working with our future ‘Creekers’ and hope that their journey in the Young Scholars Program will be both enjoyable and rewarding.
